- ↑ "Barbara Helen, second child of Philip and Martha Ritter was born inSteuben county, September 3, 1859 and departed this life at the home inHudsaon, Indiana June 1, 1925, aged 65 years, 8 months and 28 days.
On January 17, 1878 she was united in marriage to Frank Tubbs. To thesunion was born two children, Mabel, wife of Otto Simmons of Hudson,Indiana and Carl who resides on her farm two miles northwest of Hudson. On February 4, 1915 she was married to Zell Towns when she spent themost enjoyable part of her life, but in September 25 of that year Mr.Towns died and from thence her life was one of sorrow which graduallygrew until her death. At an early age Barbara gave her heart to God and united with the LakeValley church and later with the United Brethren church of Hudson, thefaith she cherished until the last. All through her life she was a friend and neighbor to everbody and waswilling always to help anyone in need. But above all she lived for Jesuseach day, "for by your works and deeds you shall be known". By her goingthere is a vacancy both in the home and the community which cannot thefilled but God knows best. She leaves to mourn her loss the daughter Mabel and son Carl, 10grandchildren, 2 brothers Elmer and Theophilus, 3 sisters Martha, Lovinaand Orpha, and also 2 half-brothers besides a host of relative andfreinds. Funeral was held at the U.B. church at Hudson, June 4 at 1:00 oclock theRev. A.E. Stucker officiating. Burial at Circle Cemetery."
