Grand Children: Children of Barbara and John Slote
All estate to be sold by executors at public auction and divided into four equal parts, to be distributed as follows: To son John Poe; to son Jacob Poe; to daughter Catherine Brown wife of Jesse Brown. Fourth part in trust by executors for daughter Barbara Slote wife of John Slote, for her use, and any residue remaining at her death to be divided among her children when aged 21. Also to daughter Barbara, $1.

Will Transcript

In the name of God Amen I Baltzer Poe of the Corporation of Winchester County of Frederick and Commonwealth of Virginia being weak in Body but of sound mind and memory thanks to God for the same and calling to mind that all men must die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all former and the other Wills and testaments by me here to fore made
Imprimis-I Commit my body to the Earth to be Buried in a christian like decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and my soul to God who gave me being, hoping for mercy and salvation thro the merits of my redeamer Jesus Christ As to the worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me I give and dispose of the same in the following manner. It is my will and I hereby direct that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and discharged out of my Estate by my Executors here after named My further will and desire is that all my Estate Real Personal & mixed shall be sold by my Executors at public auction, to the highest Bidder, on such credit as my Executors shall judge proper and most advantageious and I do hereby authorise and impower my executors or such of them as shall be living and as such at the time of such sale, and conveances to make a Deed or Deeds for the same in fee simple to the purchasor or purchasors My further will and desire is that my Executors collect the money arising from such sale to be made as aforesaid, with all convenient dispatch after the same shall become due, and after paying my just Debts and funeral expences and retaining to themselves the usual Commission for collecting divide the sum then remaining into four equal parts one of which equal parts I do hereby Give and bequeath unto my well beloved son John Poe his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever one other of the said equal fourth parts I do hereby give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Jacob Poe his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns forever One other of the said equal fourth parts I do hereby give and bequeath unto my well beloved Daughter Catherine Brown wife of Jesse Brown her Heirs Executors administrators or assiigns forever and the other of the said equal fourth parts I do hereby Give and bequeath unto my Executors herein after named to hold as trustees for my well beloved Daughter Barbara Slote wife of John Slote and to be by them paid (?) out and intended for the use and benifit of my said Daughter Barbara in such manner and in such sums and proportions as she may require and their discretion guided by her wants and circumstances may direct and if my said Daughter Barbara shall depart this life leaving any of her said proportion in the hands of my Executors that they divide the same into as many equal parts as she shall leave children & the several and respective parcells or sums so divided do retain the same in their hands, or part out at Interest on good security until the children of the said Barbara lawfully begotten on her body severally arrive to Lawfull age, or marry and are either of those events shall take place an equal part or proportion of such remaining sums and interest to be paid to the child surviving to Lawful age, or marrying so that the whole sum that shall remain in the hands of my Executors at the time of the Death of the said Barbara may be Equally divided among all my children of the said Barbara lawfully begotten or the survivors of them
I further do give and bequeath to my said Daughter Barbara Slote one dollar, to her, her heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever
Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son Jacob Poe, and my son in Law Jesse Brown Executors of this my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the Testator (?) for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who in his presence, and in the presence of each other
Subscribed the same as Witnesses at the request of the Testator

At a Court held for Frederick County the 6th day of July 1800 This last will and Testament of Baltzer Poe was proved by the Oaths of Obed Waite and James B Galloway two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of Jacob Poe and Jesse Brown the Executors therin named who made Oath thereto according to Law Certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in due form giving Security where upon they together with John Grim and Charles Grim their Securities entered into and acknowledged as bound in the penalty of three thousand Dollars Conditioned for the due and faithfull administration of the said Decedants Estate."
