[26635.ged] Avarilla's name first appears on the 1779 land grant index for Burke County, North Carolina. In the 1783 Court records there is record of a subpoena issued to Greenberry Wilson, Avarilla Burchfield, John Baker, Jane Gowin, Thos. White Sr., on behalf of Danial Gowin vs. James Murphy, for the April term. Subpoenas were issued in 1788 for Christian Isom, Greenberry Wilson in the case of State and Avarilla Burchfield vs. Catherine smith, wife of John Smith. John Wood, Atty. John Davidson, foreman (4 papers). This case must have been interesting. Later there were two attachments issued by the court; Christian Isom in case of John Smith vs. Avarilla Burchfield, October 23. Also, Greenberry Wilson, Christian Isom, in case of Avarilla Burchfield vs. John Smith, January, October 23, 24. Attendance ticket of Isom. It is hard to tell who was suing who. |
