The following list of names are of those. who are known to have served in the regular army during that period for longer or shorter terms:.., Asa DURGEE, TOWNSHIP INFORMATION: Pittsford THIS town lies a little north of the center of Rutland county and is bounded north by by Brandon; east by Chittenden; south by Rutland, and west by Hubbardton and Ira. It contains about thirty-six square miles of territory. Its principal stream is Otter Creek which flows from south to north across nearly the center of the town. Furnace and Stevens Brooks are considerable streams which empty into Otter Creek,

Oswego County Probate Record (pink footlocker files) County of Oswego Surrogates Court In the matter of administration on the estate of Gilbert Gay, deceased: Oswego County to Asa W. Durgy of the Town of Verona, Oneida County, being duly sworn says that he has been acquainted with the late Gilbert Gay about twelve years; the said Gay then resided in Amboy Oswego County; and that said Gay sold his farm in said Town about ten years ago; and that after the sale of said farm the said Gay resided in different places until March 1844 when the said Gay settled and became a resident of the Town of Verona, Oneida County and State of New York; and that the occupation of the said Gay was boat building and boating ; and that the said Gay rented a house of Ira Nortrip situated in the said Town of Verona in the fall of 1846 and occupied said house until the first of September 1847; then went on the canal; and as this deponent is informed and believes died St. Johnsville in Montgomery. Oswego Daily Times, 22 June 1893: RICARD, June 21-- Asa Durgee's house burned last Saturday with nearly all the contents. Mrs. Durgee was severely burned in trying to save some of their household goods. Mr. and Mrs. Durgee are two aged persons living alone. How the fire originated is not learned.
