Facts and Events
Artemas and his son Henry and their family lived in Lowell, MA. Artemas and Lucia wintered in NC, CA, and FL, and built a summer home on Baker Island in Salem Harbor, where they spent summers with all their grandchildren. Artemas and Lucia also had four children who died young. Three Nevins sisters were the start of a very confusing set of relationships. Hannah Nevins was the grandmother of Sarah Phelps born in 1805. Sarah Nevins was the grandmother of Artemas Lucius Brooks born in 1803. Tamasin Nevins was the grandmother of Artemas Brooks Woodworth born much later in 1841. Thus the three (Artemas Lucius Brooks, Sarah Phelps and Artemas Brooks Woodworth) were second cousins. Artemas Brooks Woodworth was named after his second cousin Artemas Lucius Brooks. Then, Artemus Lucius Brooks (b. 1803) married his second cousin Sarah Phelps (b. 1805). Their daughter (and therefore their own second cousin once removed) was Lucia Mahalia Brooks (b. 1840). Artemas Brooks Woodworth (b. 1841) became the son-in-law to his own two second cousins when he married his own second cousin once removed, Lucia M Brooks. |
