Anna Osterdyk, of Mora, passed away on November 1, 2012, at the St. Clare Living Community. She was 92 years old.

Anna was born on December 21, 1919, to William and Grace (Siebenza) Weidenaar in Parkersburg, Iowa, the fifth of ten children. Her family lived in rural Iowa and later moved to Minnesota near Ogilvie where she met her husband.

On February 20, 1940, Anna married Garret Osterdyk in Dakota County, Nebraska. The couple farmed in the Isanti, Maple Ridge, and Grasston areas. In 1945, they purchased a farm near Coin where they raised their seven children. They lived in the Coin area for about 26 years. In 1971, they moved to Long Prairie and remained there until 1976, when they moved to a farm in Ford Township. Later, Anna moved from her farm to Mora. Her final years were spent at the nursing home.

In addition to working on the farm and raising seven children, Anna worked as a housekeeper for Kanabec Hospital. She also worked at Fingerhut in Mora. She was a hard-worker from a family of hard-workers.

Anna enjoyed travelling. She took family trips with Garret and the children to visit Garret’s family in Missouri. The family spent time at Silver Dollar City in Branson. For several years, Anna and Garret would escape the farm and take a trip down to Texas and Mexico. Anna and her friend, Marshall, enjoyed several winters in Arizona.

Anna loved old-time dancing, gardening, and shopping. She enjoyed flowers and plants and kept them in the house as well as out in the garden. She loved to shop for clothes and took regular trips with her sisters to St. Cloud to spend the day and shop.
