Jennie J. (Weidenaar) Hanson of Cambridge, peacefully made her way home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at GracePointe Crossing East. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Springvale Baptist Church, Stanchfield, MN. Jennie was born to William and Grace (Seibenga) Weidenaar on February 27, 1926, in Greenbush Township, Milaca, MN. She was the youngest of 10 children. Jennie married Howard W. Hanson on February 12, 1944 at the Weidenaar Homestead in Lewis Lake Township. To this union 8 children were born. Jennie devoted most of her life as a loving, caring mother. Jennie taught Sunday school for many years. She attended Bible study with her friends, loved playing bingo at Ashland Place and playing cards and dice. She enjoyed celebrating her birthday and opening gifts with her family. She loved having visitors, singing hymns, getting her hair done, and eating fresh walleye caught by her boys. One of Jennie’s highlights while living at Haven House was when she was crowned Queen. She will be remembered as a “ray of sunshine” to all of those she came in contact with. She dearly loved and cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace; husband, Howard; sisters, Minnie Folkema, Bertha Bahlman, Hattie Akkerman, Lucy Weidenaar, Lena Stenstrom, and Anna Osterdyk; brother, John Weidenaar; son-in-law Daniel Gray; daughter-in-law, Elna Hanson; grandchildren, Kevin and Loren Lee Mattson, infant baby Gray; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.

Jennie is survived by children, Roger Hanson of Mora, Joan (Jim) Kunza of Cambridge, Janice (Loren) Mattson of Onamia, Judy Gray of Buckman, Howard (Vicki) Hanson, Jr. of Pine City, Henry Hanson of Stanchfield, Bob (Cris) Hanson of Cambridge and Alan (Dawn) Hanson of Stanchfield; 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; brother, Elkie Weidenaar of Braham; sister, Grace (Wes) Lundeen of Cambridge and brother-in-law & sister-in-law R. Stewart and Allene Coleman of Stanchfield.
