Facts and Events
Anna moved to America from Germany with her family in 1841 when she was six years old. After a one year stay at Great Falls, N.Y. the family moved to Traverse des Sioux an Indian trading post in Minnesota. The post was located just north of the present town of St. Peter in the Minnesota River valley. She ran her own business, a millinery shop. Her father-in-law, Anton, lived with Anna and Henry for many years after the death of his wife. For a number of year Anna and Henry lived in an apartment in St. Peter over the theatre owned by their son Henry, Jr.. Only their last son Raymond died young. Their home was a gathering place for their children and their families down through the years. My mother, their granddaughter, Maurine Ludcke Pulver fondly remembers stopping by to she her grandparents on her way home from school, hoping she would be invited to stay for dinner. The family gatherings, particularly at Christmas, with all the cousins, aunts and uncles were memorable events. (See Henry Ludcke, Sr.) Funeral services were at St. Peter's Catholic in St. Peter. Burial in Greenhill Cemetary, St. Peter. |
