Rebecca Hausenfluck was born in Shenandoah County, Virginia, about 1790, daughter of Henry Hausenfluck and Margaret Fortig. She was listed as "Anna Rebecca Hasenfluck, single," when she sponsored a child of her sister, Elizabeth, in 1818.[1] She married John A. Coffman in 1820 and they had five children together. They resided at "Coffmantown", near Woodstock, in Shenandoah County. In 1851, they made an agreement with their son, David, in which they sold their land to him, and in return he had to farm it and provide them a home and provisions for their remainder of lives. David sold the land to his brother-in-law David Kibler in 1857, who then took on the responsibility of caring for the elderly couple. The family, including an unmarried daughter, is listed in the census records from 1830 to 1870. According to census records Rebecca was at least seven and possibly ten years older than John and died sometime before 1878, according to court records regarding the Coffman estate.[2]
