Ann Knott, a long-time resident of Seattle, Washington, died early in the morning of 3 May 2017 at Queen Anne Healthcare in Seattle after suffering a major stroke.

Ann was born 10 January 1920 in Emmett, Idaho, the daughter of Edward Michael Mayer and Effie Lillian Scott. Following graduation from Emmett High School, she attended a Business College in Boise, Idaho and then found work as a stenographer in Pullman, Washington. In Pullman she met her future husband, Norman P. Knott, and they were married 14 May 1939 in Moscow, Idaho. They divorced 3 August 1960 in Seattle, Washington.

Ann and Norman lived in Pullman and Yakima, Washington, before moving to Seattle early in 1945. In Seattle, Ann took part in neighbourhood activities for many years, first in south Seattle, then in the neighbourhood of Haller Lake. In the mid-1950s, Ann returned to the workforce full time, first with the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, then with Eddie Bower when it was still locally owned. After retirement Ann moved to the Ballard district, where she was able to indulge her interest in gardening. For the last ten years, Ann has lived at Norse Home on Phinney Avenue North.

Ann was predeceased by her brothers Reece E. Mayer and Harold S. Mayer and her granddaughter Jennifer (Foster) McGowan. She is survived by [two daughters, one grandson], and four great-grandsons.

Family of Edward Mayer and Effie Scott Mayer [from Effie Mayer and Reece Mayer]
Ellen Anna Mayer, born January 10, 1920, Emmett, Idaho. Dr. Reynolds attended. at Mrs. Hewitson's Hospital.

When it came near time for second child, Ellen Anna Mayer, to be born, Effie went to Emmett and stayed with her step-mother Annie [Scott], and [half-sister and brother] Elizabeth and Leonard. Anna was born Jan 10, 1920, and attended by Dr. Reynolds.
After Anna was born, Effie had a "nervous break-down", so called in those days and spent time in an Emmett nursing home and with her folks. Joe Bennett's parents [Linnie (Scott?) Bennett], who lived only 2 miles from Ed and Effie's home in Long Valley, took Baby Anna for the next 6 months or so. In late August of 1920, Effie was well enough to come back home. Baby Anna was 8 mo's old. Joe Bennett was at home then, 22 yrs old, and he always had a warm spot in his heart for Anna, watching her grow for 6-8 months.
On April 19, 1923, Harold Scott Mayer was born. Reece was 5 and Anna was 3. Reece took Anna and walked over 3 blocks on Commercial St. to where the Lester Cases' lived. Mom pre-arranged for Mrs. Case to babysit us.
All three children went thru Wardwell grade school and Park View Hi School.
In 1927, about this time that Mom switched from being a Sunday Baptist-Methodist church goer to a 7th Day Adventist, and she took us kids along also to Sat. services.
Norman P. Knott and Ellen Anna Mayer married May 1939, Moscow, Idaho, by Rev. James Hughes, Baptist minister
