There are several possible sources of information about James Black and Ann Maxwell. James BLACK of Paisley, Renfrewshire, may have married in about 1755 Anne MAXWELL (born 4aug1734, died 24jul1801, aged 69). Anne MAXWELL’s parents were James MAXWELL of Merksworth, Renfrewshire and Janet LECKIE (born 1688), daughter of John LECKIE of Croy Leckie, Dunbartonshire and Margaret MACGREGOR (sister of Rob Roy) (R. Steel). Alternatively James BLACK born 1737, Low Church, Paisley, Renfrewshire, may have married 1756 Ann (Annie) (Anne) MAXWELL (born 4aug1734 Paisley/1738 Paisley/1735). The ancestry of Ann Maxwell can be seen at <http://www.geocities.com/7life/gen.html>
