ENDOWMENT: Ann Jenkins' endowment work was repeated on 4 Oct 1967 in the Las Angeles temple by an unknown proxy.

Ann had red hair. She crossed the plains with her parents to Utah when she was 14 years old (in 1861). The story is told that Indians came into their camp one day. One of the braves admired Ann's red hair, which reminded him of fire and offered several horses to have Ann as his bride. Her father refused saying he had enough horses. Later, Ann was riding one of her father's horses when this brave swiftly rode up and led her and the horse away from the wagon train. Her father and several of the other men rode after her. In the meantime the tribe chief persuaded the brave to return her to her people. (story shared with me by Eileen Illium <eileen_si@yahoo.com>
