Ann Gamble was baptised on 8th January 1775 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, daughter of Ann Gamble, formerly Deacon, and her husband William Gamble, a mason.

Ann's father died in 1796, and her mother died the following year. Ann and her sisters were left running the family business, which appears to have been something to do with the quarries in Barnack.

On 17th November 1799, aged 24, Ann was married at Barnack to John Bird, a miller from Newstead Mill in the neighbouring parish of Uffington. Ann and John settled at Uffington after their marriage, having six children there between 1800 and 1808.

Ann died giving birth to their sixth child, on 20th December 1808, aged about 34. John survived Ann by just over four years.
