Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire identifies him as a son of Richard1 and Hannah (Haley) Wescott, and a grandson of Andrew1 Haley of the Isles of Shoals; investigation, should be undertaken of the possibility that he was a son of Daniel Wescott of the Isles of Shoals and Portsmouth NH[Given the rest of the family certainly seems more likely].
