Married 3 times. Listed on the List of Owners of Lands and Lots in Caldwell county Delinquent to the State in October, 1863 for Taxes of 1863. (May 20 1864 Caldwell Liberty Banner)

By first wife, name unknown, had four children 1805-1811 in Knox Co, OH. They all stayed there through their marriages in the 1820s and 1830s. Andrew must have divorced this woman, as she is gone before the 1820 census, but did not die until 1844. By his second wife Sabra, he had eight children, of whom four are unknown.

From Millwood, a family tree; a partial history of the descendants of John Ellis of Rehoboth, Mass. (1909): “Of Sabra Ellis (40), we have imperfect account, not knowing date of birth or death. She came into Knox county and taught school in the neighborhood of her brother Benjamin, and eventually was married there to Andrew Welker. Her life thenceforth was said to have been one of poverty and trial, owing to the drinking habits of her husband, and she died comparatively young. Her two sons, Oliver and Emmett Welker, went to Missouri when young, and have not since been known in Ohio.

We have been shown a tract of land where the Welkers once lived, now one of the most fertile in the county, which Andrew traded off for a shot-gun. It was probably at that time, however, little better than a swamp, and may have cost him but a trifle.”
