Andrew Donnally, Jr. was born at Fort Donnally in Greenbrier County and was one of Charleston's earliest pioneers. He was one of the largest salt makers in the Kanawha Valley and held many government offices. Andrew Donnally, Jr. and other members of his family were originally buried in the Donnally Family Cemetery in Kanawha City, Charleston, WV. The original cemetery, established in 1830, was a part of the garden of the old Donnally homestead, erected by Andrew Donnally, Jr., who was born in Fort Donnally, near Lewisburg and was the son of Colonel Andrew Donnally. The cemetery was moved to the old circle section of Spring Hill Cemetery from the original 1830 Cemetery, which was located in Kanawha City.
