Amos Lewis's wife died just before their son, turned 2 years old. They were married for six years. Amos Lewis never remarried. Their son was raised by his uncle. Prior to this time, Amos Lewis was said to be "not able or did not maintain himself."

On 5 Sep 1803 the Charlestown, RI, Town Council granted Amos a certificate to move to the town of Bridgewater, Hurheymore (Herkimer) Co, NY. That is the last mention of Amos Lewis that I have been able to find.
