    Ambrose, farmer, of Fremont, IL and Mount Ida, Grant Co., WI (son of Amos Bliss and Hannah Clark of Essex, VT), b. Essex (VT) 11 Sep 1803, m. 6 Jan 1825 Esther Anna Varney (dau of Paul and Anna). She was b. 4 Jul 1807. "He was a man of indomitable will, great perseverance, a hard worker, and an honest, noble, upright man, whose word was as good as a bond." Moved to Ohio about 1834/5, to Fremont IL about 1844, went to California in 1851, walking the entire distance. returned to IL in 1855, moved to Mt. Ida about 1859 where he d. 11 May 1874.
