Mally Stern was born in Fulda, Germany; she was one of eight children of Max Stern and Henriette Weilburg.

Mally Stern met Isaac Levy, grandson of the great 19th Century Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch, while staying in a hotel with her brother on vacation in Bad Brukenau, Germany in 1922. They were married that same year. She bacame the stepmother for Isaac Levy's three children from his previous marriage to Emilie Levy, who had died of tuberculosis some years earlier. Her stepchildren were Samson Raphael Levy, Coralie Levy and Aharon Ronald Levy.

Mally served as an Air Raid Warden during the 'Blitzkrieg' in London in WWII. Though he was technically not allowed to do so, her husband often patrolled with her. This was a very dangerous job, as it required her to walk the streets of London as the German bombs fell, ensuring everyone was maintaining the required blackout for their homes.

Mally fell in her kitchen in 1972 as she and her husband were preparing to go to their 50th wedding anniversary celebration; she broke her hip in the fall. Shortly thereafter she contracted pneumonia and died.

Mally became the stepmother to Isaac's children from his previous marriage after his first wife passed away...they had no children of their own, as far as I am aware.
