He was away from home (Hæm) when the Black Death came in 1350. He had traveled earlier to Troserud in Heddal.^[2]

   'Sonen [av Borgar Vetrlidesson på Hem and Aslaug] Alvar (eller Aulvir) Borgarsson, g m Ingeborg, budde visstnok i Hjartdal eller Heddal.'
   
   translation: The son [of Borgar Vetrlidesson of Hem and Aslaug] Alvar (or Aulvir) Borgarsson, married to Ingeborg, apparently lived in Hjartdal or Heddal.

   'Segna fortel at pesta og kom til Hem ein dag, og tri av huslyden blei sjuke og døde tett etter einannan. Det var Ormar Borgarsson, Ingeborg (kona til Aulvir) og mora, den gamle Aslaug. Aulvir var ikkje heime da. Han hadde tidleg på hausten reist opp til Troserud i Heddal, som og hørte til ætta på Hem.'
   
   translation: Legend tells that the plague came to Hem one day, and three of the household became sick and died one after the other. They were Ormar Borgarsson, Ingeborg (wife of Aulvir) and the mother, the old Aslaug. Aulvir was not at home then. In early autumn, he had traveled to Troserud in Heddal, which belonged to their clan at Hem.
