According to the Prairie Homestead brochure, Alice was one of thirteen children [see family page]. The 1860 Census, Alice Story (born ABT 1858) was living in the household of Daniel and Martha Story. They were living in the Town of Tully, Onondaga County, New York. Nine other children are also living with them. They are: William, Catherin, Mary Ann, Thomas, Matilda, Margaret, Joseph, Frederick, and Omelia. In 1870, they are living in Buffalo Township, Linn County, Iowa. Their post office was Waubeek. At this time, there are only seven children residing with them. They are: Margaret, Freddie, Allice, Fanny [possibly Omelia], George Lilly, and Frank. Within the next 2 to 3 years, Daniel and Martha passed away. Daniel died on the 31 of January 1873; and Martha died earlier (23 Nov 1872). They are both buried in the Boulder Cemetery, Waubeek, Linn County, Iowa. After her husband, Edgar Brown, died, Alice lived with her son, Charles. The census in 1930, they were still living in Interior Township, Jackson County, South Dakota. In the 1940 Census, Alice and Charles were living with Grundy and Candace (her daughter) McDonald. They were living at 238 Euclid Avenue in Long Beach, California. According to the census, both Charles and Alice were living in Interior Township, Jackson County, South Dakota in 1935. References
