Alice (Dutch); m. (1) John Newman of Ipswich on whose estate administration was granted to her March 13, 1674; m. (2) Dr. John Dane before March, 1676 [Records and files, VI:127]; m. (3) Jeremiah Meacham; d. prior to May 4, 1674, when John Dane, her step-son, sold property "immediately after the death of Alice Meacham, widow and relique of Meacham, late of Salem, and formerly widow of Dr. John Dane."

Alice (Dutch). She was the second wife of Jeremiah Meacham of Salem, who died in 1694, leaving a large estate. She was still his widow, living in Ipswich, on March 30, 1704, when she assigned to her sister, Esther Elwell, all claim to the estate of her father, stating her regret at having signed a paper at the request of her nephew, Thomas Hodgkins, in an attempt to recover some property sold by her mother since her father's death [Essex Deeds 16:117].

  3. If Alice had been born prior to July 1639, her father was not aware of it when he had Lechford write letters back to Bridport telling wife Grace to bring son Robert and come to New England. He had been in New England since at least March of 1638/39. More likely she was born at Gloucester about 1640 after her parents had settled there.
