    Mrs. Alice R. Smith, wife of the late Francis C. Smith and daughter of the late Edward and Julia Bussey, died at her residence, 134 Baxter street, early Wednesday morning after a lingering illness.

    Mrs. Smith was born at Hickory, Harford county, March 11, 1834. She is survived by six sons - Messrs. A. Greene [sic], of Washington, D.C. ; Francis A., William H. and Edward R., of Baltimore County ; James T. and David J., of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. Mary ?. Welch, of Baltimore county.

    The funeral will take place today from the residence, thence to St. Elizabeth's Church, where a requiem mass will be offered. Interment will be made in St. Ignatius' Cemetery at Hickory, Harford county.
