    10 Dec 1886 - Mr. F.C. Smith, of the Dairy Farm, near Perryman, lost a valuable mare, a short time ago, by the animal being kicked by another horse while in the stable yard.

    Francis Smith, aged 62 years, died at Mount Washington [Baltimore city] and was buried at St. Ignatius Church, Hickory, on Tuesday. Rev. Father Fowler was the officiating clergyman. The pall bearers were Geo. W. Richardson, Edward Ferry, Thomas Poole, James M. Cain, John M. Blake and John Smith.

    Mr. Smith was an adopted son of the late Samuel Smith, who formerly lived near the Hickory, on the farm now belonging to Darlington Hoopes. Mr. Smith left four son [sic] and one daughter. One of his sons is Mr. A. Greme Smith, of Abingdon district. Miss Laura Smith, a daughter of the deceased, was buried St. Ignatius several months ago.
