Emigrated to Yokohama, Japan, in 1863, and then to Pine Creek, Calgary, Canada in 1883. Returned to Japan in 1894. Had four children, including Margaret(ta) (13 Oct 1874), who married Francis David Patterson in 1901 and died in 1902 (one child, Frances), Hephzibah Lucy (1875), who married William King in 1900 and had at least two children (William 1903 and Margaret 1905), and Mary Katherine (14 Dec 1876), who did not marry, ranched in Pine Creek / Red Deer and died in 1957. All the daughters were born in Japan.
