Lived in a shanty boat near Mary Zintz's house in NA. Uncle Bill Barker, 18 Oct 1992 relates on tape: "Grandma Barker lived down in the west end of New Albany below Corydon pike there in what they called the river bottoms. It used to flood there almost every year in that area. There was a time when a lot of those people lived in them shanty boats. They were fishermen and they lived in them shanty boats. They would just pull them up and down the river. When high water came they would bring 'em back up into these flats and put them up on timbers. Finally it just got to be little villages. My uncle Zintz, he lived in a shanty boat. It was still-- The one that my grandmother lived in, they must have built on to it because it was more like a house. But uncle Elec's shanty boat was still like it was when it was floating. I remember the little front porch on there, it was a long shanty boat, that's all."
