According to correspondence on the Stoops Mailing List, Dr. A. B. Stoops married Mary Belle Jones (1849-1897) in 1872 in Mason Co., Kentucky, and had 3 children: Lizzie, m. Charles A. Pitman; (unknown daughter) m. Eugene Terry; and John Goodell, died as infant.  In the 1880 census for Moorefield, Nicholas Co., Kentucky, A. B. Stoops is a physician, age 38, from Kentucky (parents Kentucky).  His wife is 31, born Ohio (parents Kentucky) - [first name not transcribed].  Their daughter Lizzie is 7. {p.460 a}
 According to information on the Montgomery Co. USGenWeb site, Dr. A. B. Stoops and his brother Walter Stoops moved to Montgomery Co. in the 1880's from Nicholas and settled 'down the Hinkston Valley near Springfield church'.  The settlement took the name Stoops.
 In the 1900 census for district 3, Montgomery Co., Kentucky, A. B. Stoops is 57, born Dec 1842 in Kentucky (parents same), widowed, farmer; with daughter Ella 17, born Dec 1883 in Kentucky (father KY, mother Ohio).  Next door (same building?) is Charles A. Pitman 27, born Mar 1873 in Kentucky (parents same), married 0 years (i.e. within the year), farmer; with Elizabeth 27, born Mar 1873 in KY (father KY, mother OH), with 0 of 0 children living.  Sam Jones, 60 from Kentucky, is a boarder. {ed 67, sh (21?)b, p. 75}
