Records published in the Brooklyn Eagle for May 1844:
Monday, May 20, 1844 Sunday, May 19: Alex. Warren Seaman 34y 4m; Res of bro-in-law Coe S. Downing, 31 Hicks St. Remains taken to Jerusalem, Queens Co., NY for interment.

The above newspaper notice not only gives us confirmation of his family relationship, but also gives us more accurate information than other published records. It contradicts the date of death given in Bunker's "Long Island Genealogies", pg 161 which says he died 19 May 1846. The photo of his tombstone at Find-a-Grave site is not real clear and can be read either May 19, 1814 or May 19, 1844 but the memorial itself indicates 1844. But the age at death given at Find-a-Grave does not agree with the newspaper article. It appears that both the date of death (19 May 1814) and the age at death (65yrs, 4mths) given in the cemetery transcription "Cemeteries of Old Wantagh" are incorrect.

His birthdate is calculated using the date of death of 19 May 1844 and age at death is 34 yrs, 4 mths given in the newspaper article. Using these figures, an approximate date of birth is Jan 1810. Mrs. Bunker (pg 161) says he was born 11 Jan 1811 which may be more accurate.
