Signal Battalion at Fort Hood , enlisted in the Army in August 1962, and completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Specialist Clark, a radio operator in the Battailon's Headquaters Battery, entered the Army in August 1962 and completed basic training at Fort Knox Kentucky. Alfred Clough at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Beulah on Saturday, November 27 at six o'clock Mrs. Alfred Clough played traditional wedding selections and accompanied the soloist, Rev. Clough. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. John Skurkis of Benzonia. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Clark of Benzonia. The bride's gown was of chantilly lace over pink satin with a bell train. Her pink veil was secured by a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones and she carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations. She was given in marriage by her brother Charles Kinney of Rockwood Mrs. Elizabeth Acvklin of Ney, Ohio, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaid was Miss Linda Clark, sister of the groom. Allen Kagey of Ludington was the best man. Ushers were Edward Coggins of Alpena and Donald Tanner of Midland. Albert Clark of Benzonia was one of those fortunate fisherman when he snagged on to two nice steel-head trout on consecutive days. He hooked the larger of the two a 12 pound nine ounce 21 incher, Sunday evening. Monday morning Clark returned to the same general area in the Betsie river and came up with a 9 pound 30 incher. Both trout cought on a colorado spinner. Clark, using a four ounce fly rod battled the first fish for a half an hour and the second for over 20 minutes. Entry date; March 1, 1999

Benzie Banner; 1973 ---- Researched; May 2000 Mar. 22,- (Pg. 5) Hooks Prize; --- One of the largest steelhead trout to be taken from any water in the area was hooked last week by Albert Clark of Rural Benzonia. He was casting a spinning lure below the Homestead dam on the Betsie River when the 37 incher hit Part of the reel on Clark's fishing rig fell off and he landed the 20 pound two ouncer pulling in the line hand over hand. The fisherman has hooked a number of nice size steelhead from the waters of the Betsie over the past several weeks, but this one is his pride and joy. Mar. 29,- Officers Nab Two Men (Albert Clark) ( Page 17, ) No contest pleas were entered on companion charges involving violations of the state fishing laws in district court here Monday. Albert Clark 32, of Benzonia and James Kunesh 38, of Defiance, Ohio, were cited for illegal fishing on the Betsie river between the Homestead dam and the bridge on US-31. The pair wer nabbed by DNR Officers Gorge Peters and Donald Wealch on Sunday. Clark was charged with catching a fish by other means then the fish taking the hook in its mouth, it was hooked in the back, and Kunesh received a summons for aiding and abetting in the taking of the fish. Both men were arraigned in Judge William Stapelton's court Monday when they entered their pleas. The court ordered each of the two men to pay $25. fine and $25. court cost. May 24, Store Grand Opening Set; A Benzonia area grocery store, closed for several months, will be opened Friday under new ownership. The new business, Daly Val-U-Market, will carry a full line of groceries and meats in the main section of the building and a sporting goods line in a room on the north side. Gasoline service will also be offered. The interor of the store has been completely remodled, giving it the modern look that adds to displaying merchandise that is pleasing to the customer. Access to all parts of the shopping area has been made easy with island placement. The entire lighting system has been replaced with fluorescent fixtures that adequately illuminate the interior of the building. 12-2002 - Alberts Cancer is back a Saginaw trip is planned for further consulation & test

1-10-2003 Albert , Doris and daughter Dayna went to Saginaw for resualts of test and consulation on treatments. At this time they kept Albert in the hospital on the 10 for a biopsy on Monday the 1-13-03 Doris is going back down on this day to be with him.

1-14-03 E-mail from Steve & Dayna Hi C & L Monday Albert had a biopsy on the mass on his windpipe. The doctor said it is cancer but will have to wait for lab to see what kind. No matter what he will have to start chemo or maybe radiation. We will know more today. ps The doctor also said for both of them to eat right and get plenty of sleep because, "You've got a tough road ahead".

1-15, 2003 Email from Steve & Dayna New update.... Albert is home as of 8:00 pm Wednesday. Had chemo earlier that day. Came home with a "trick or treat" bag full of meds but he looks great and has a good attitude. I guess the first shot of chemo is the worst and they get easier from there, so we'll see how he does with this one. He said he can actually breath better and his shoulder doesn't hurt so much now! He's just happy to be home. Bye for now.

February 10, 2003 -- Albert was taken to Munson hospital, he had a mild heart attack they will keep him in ICU until they can get medication regulated for his heart.

February 12, 2003 -- I went to visit Albert on this day he looked so different then a couple of weeks before when I saw him they had just allowed him to get up and sit in a chair. He seemed to be in good spirts and the nurses said it was good to see him smile and laugh I am glad I went to visit.

March 2, 2003 -- Albert visited the hospital again thought he had pneumonia, had another mild heart attack was treated came home Thuesday March 4 th., The cancer has grown 50 percent since last Chemo treatment they gave him 3 to 6 months unless a mericle occurs. They have susspended Chemo treatments at this time and set a do not a resusate order. Hospice will visit the home to keep him as comfortable as possible, however at theis time he is still up & about when he feels like getting out.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Joyfield Township Cemetery. FRANKFORT - Albert Edward Clark, 62, of Frankfort, passed away March 26, 2003, at his home in Joyfield Township. He was born June 2, 1940, in Benzonia, the son of Arthur E. and Margaret I. (Long) Clark. Albert lived most of his life in the Benzie area, except for a short time when he and his wife, Doris, lived in Defiance, Ohio. Albert was a graduate of Benzonia High School, where he had been active in Future Farmers of America. After graduating, Albert went to work for Walter L. Heath Appliance in Benzonia, where he worked until he joined the military in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1965. Afterward, he had many ventures including a cleaning business, building with his brother-in-law, and the purchase of Harris Superette south of Benzonia. Albert had also worked for the Mitchell Corporation in the maintenance department for several years, after which he started Clark Builders.

Albert was a member of the Lighthouse Chapel Church of God in Benzonia, where he evolved as a Christian. In his spare time, Albert loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, being outdoors and working with his hands. In Beulah, on Nov. 27, 1965, Albert married Doris Faith Kinney, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Dayna (Steve) Ginter of Frankfort; his son, John (Barb) Clark of Honor; granddaughter, Sarah Clark - "Doughnut," as he liked to call her; a brother, Edison (Jeanne) Kagey of Beulah, Colo.; two sisters, Rosemary (Donald) Tanner of Elberta and Linda (Harold) Saffron of Honor; his pal, "Conrad," who he used to baby-sit from time to time; and numerous nieces and nephews. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanet Kagey and Joan Kagey Coggins; a brother, Allen Kagey; and a nephew, Joshua D. Wiggins. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah, with the Rev. Elmer J. Polk officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in Joyfield Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lighthouse Chapel Church of God in Benzonia. Envelopes are available at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home.
