_FREL: Natural _MREL: Natural Col Albert E Chewning Retired Air Force Col. Albert E. Chewning, 655 South Main, died at St. Joseph Hospital at 7:32 a.m. Monday Oct. 27 (1986). Graveside services will be conducted at Evergreen Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., October 28, with the Reverend Daryl Johnson offiiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home is in charge of arringements. Mr. Chewning was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of Albert and Jessie Christian Chewning. He married Madell Latimer in 1927. He was a retired colonel in the Air Force, serving as one of six aides to General Hap Arnold in Washington D.C., from 1942-1945. He retired in 1945 and moved to Paris after living in Dallas for 45 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a fifty year member of the American Legion. He was a former Elder at First Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of WWI and WW2. Surviving are his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Walter Beacham of Shreveport, La. and Mrs. Henry Richardson of Dallas, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at their home from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. –Obituary on Page 2A of Paris News While in Dallas after retirement, Albert, like many in his family, worked for the Bennett Printing Company. He operated a ledger ruling printing machine. |
