2014-Birth: Nov. 23, 1882 Death: Sep. 5, 1942-Dolph Abernathy had been a steam shovel operator for over 30 years. While working on the construction of Fontana Dam in Tennessee, he suffered a heart attack and died instantly. He is buried in Glen Alpine, Burke, NC. Mr. Abernathy was a son of G.W. & Elizabeth Tucker Abernathy. On Dec. 25, 1904, he married Nettie Mae Simpson. Surviving were his wife and nine children.
