Maybe Absalom and Martha were married before 1840? Listed in the 1850 Catahoula Parish, Louisiana Census, enumerated September 29th, page 64, Dwelling 243, Household 253, as Absolom Wiggins, age 37, planter, born LA. With Martha, age 20, born MS; Susanna, age 10, born LA; David, age 8, born LA; Jesse, age 6, born LA; Absalom Jr., age 9/12, born LA. Maybe they meant Martha was age 30? Living 4 doors down from William Wiggins, age 37, and family. Listed in the 1860 Catahoula Parish, Louisiana Census, Pine Hills, enumerated July 29, page 52, Dwelling 395, Household 385 as A Wiggins, age 47, planter, born LA. With M A, female, 37, born LA; David, 13, born LA; Uriah, 12, born LA; H A, male, age 8, born LA; W G, male, age 6, born LA; J P, male, age 4, born LA; Leona, age 1, born LA. These children don't match up with the children listed in the 1850 census, unless the ages are quite a bit off. Tom has his father listed as a United States citizen in the 1910 Montgomery County, Texas census, and Grant has him listed (in the same census) as being from Alabama. There is also a William Wiggins listed in the 1900 Montgomery County, Texas census as age 28, born October 1871 in Texas. Both parents from Louisiana. Married to Elizabeth, age 25, born May 1875 in Texas, for 8 years. Both her parents listed as from Texas. Children: Jasper (V.?), age 6, born January 1894, Martie (female), age 4, born October 1895, William G., age 3, born November 1896, Frances (C.?), age 2, born January 1898, and Edna, (says ad daughter--adopted?), age 4, born April 1896, all in Texas.
