1778  Joined revolutionary war at age 17 and marched to Stono
      River, near Charleston, South Carolina.  Fought in the Siege
      of Charleston  April 8 - May 12, 1780, under the command of
      Major General Benjamin Lincoln.
1780  Marched to Camden, (Pine Tree Store) South Carolina.
      There, under the command of General Horatio Gates,
      engaged the British under the command of General
      Cornwallis on Ausgust 16,1780. Was discharged and returned home.
1781  Called back into service and marched to near Norfolk,Virginia and was discharged again.
1782  Volunteered and marched near Little York, Virginia. Discharged after 24 days.  
      Listed on Mecklenburg Co. census, page 34.
