In Memory of Abraham Krumrein who departed this life on the 31st day of March 1835. Died March 31, 1835
    Aged 83 Yrs 2 Mos. 17 Ds.

Crumrine is the later spelling. It can be spelled Krumrein, Krummrein, Krumreith, Krumrine, Crumrine, Crumrein, Crumrien, Grumrine.
He attended both St. David's (Sherman's) Hanover, PA which is just above the PA/ MD line and the Zion Church "The German Church" Manchester, now in Carroll County MD. Both churches were on the wagon road from Baltimore to Conewago (Hanover). Both were Union churches of Reformed and Lutheran faiths.
Rev. Daniel Schroeter, a Lutheran minister, started a separate Lutheran Registers at these two churches around 1783/1784. His detailed Lutheran records survived.

Early church records show the family's name spelled as Krumrein but transcriptions of this cemetery located next to the church on Hobart Road are listed under Crumrine in one transcription and Abraham is listed as Crumrine with his wife's memorial as Judith Krumrein in the other transcription. Most of the stones are potted in asphalt rows.

His stone as well as his wife's stone are in the "OLD" cemetery (a church yard cemetery) directly next to the church on Hobart Road where it meets Shermans Church Rd. Early members of the church are in this cemetery and not in the "New" cemetery a block away which is directly on the main busy road Rt. 194 now connecting to Hanover PA.
Saint Davids CHURCH/NEW Cemetery has the more recent stones. PA Rt. 94 changes to Rt. 30 in MD. Impounding Dam Road is on on the other side. The actual church and "OLD" Cemetery is directly across Rt. 194 and one block down.

    b. 14 Jan. 1752, Cohansey (Salem Co.), N.J.
    d. 31 Jan. 1835 (83 yr.2 mo.17 da.) Baltimore Co., Maryland.

    Parents: Georg Leonhardt Krumrein & Barbara Ridman (US 1 - # 1)m. Abt. 1775, Judith Berger, b.1752; d. 14 April 1820 (68 yrs.)

Both are buried in St. David's Church cemetery, West Manheim Twp.,York Co., Penna.., in sight of the Maryland state line. Her grave is marked with a stone inscribed "Hier liegen die gebeine Von Judith Krumrein eine geboren Berger. Sie ist geboren im Jahr 1752. Sie haben mit ein ander 7 kinder gezeict. Sie ist gesboren im jahr 1820 den 14 April ihr alter wahr 68 jahr." Beside her grave was a tombstone inscribed in English, "In memory of Abraham Crumrine who departed this life on the 31st day of March 1835, aged 83 yrs., 2mo., and 17 days."

Abraham and Judith built a large stone house on their 125 acre farm which was named "Ipstone". The house is located on Wentz Rd. (formerly called Upper Black Rock Rd.) near Westminster, Md. in Carroll Co. It is on the west side of Presler's Run which descends into Gunpowder River. (This is the same land purchased by George Groomrine, Abraham's father, in 1766. Tax duplicates show taxes were first paid on a stone house in 1789. In the western gable end of the house is a stone inscribed "Abraham Krumrein Bauher Judith Krumrein Baufrau George Krumrein had diesen bauge maubed" which translates "Abraham Crumrine, houseman, Judith Crumrine housewoman, George Crumrine have built this house." Boyd Crumrine, an attorney of Washington Co., Penna. writes that the son of Abraham, George, built a house in 1805 in Washington Co., Pa. (on Plum Run, East Bethlehem Twp.) which was an exact duplicate of his father's house in Md.

Boyd Crumrine also quotes from a letter written by Abraham Sept.29, 1833, to his son, John, in Washington Co., Pa. A reference is made to a complaint on his hand which the doctor called a cancer. His will was probated April 21, 1835 in Baltimore Co., Md. (Liber D, M.P. No. 15, folio 308).
