Notes Headstone reads: Abraham d. 4-28-1849 72y 4m 22d Union County, Liberty, Indiana Will Records Book A, Book 41-43 Abraham Esteps Last Will and Testament I, Abraham Estep, of the County of Union and State of Indiana, being at this time in a very low state of health, but of sound and disposable mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last Will & Testament, hereby revolking and making void & null all former Wills by me heretofore made. 1st It is my will that after my decease, my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid as funds can be realized by my Executors for that purpose. 2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah Estep the East half of the South East Quarter of Section Seven in Township Twelve North of Range one West in said County of Union, during her natural life, to be by her during that time used and occupied at her will and as she may think, proper, and I also give and bequeath to my said Wife all the money which I may have on hand, or that may be due or owing to me at my decease, also my sorrel mare and bay colt, and two cows the choice of my flock and as many of my hogs as she may wish to retain for her own use. Also all my household and kitchen furniture, all of which she is to have use and enjoy at her will during her natural life, and at her death any of the said personal goods or chattles, moneys or effects which may remain, it is my will that it shall be equally divided share and share alike among my three daughters Sally Steelman, Temperance Hunt and Hannah D. Hunt. 3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah D. Hunt the wife of George W. Hunt and to her heirs and assigns forever my half Quarter of land above described after the decease of my said wife. 4th I give and bequeath to my son in law George W. Hunt an interest of twenty four dollars im my waggon, and the hind gears belonging to the same I give him on time. 5th I will and bequeath that all and singular the balance of my personal Estate or property; not herein before disposed of, be sold by my Executors as the law directs and equally divided amongst my three daughters above named. 6th I give and bequeath to Matthias Steelman my son in law and Sally Steelman my daughter, during their natural lives, all and singular the thirty five acres of land with the unimprovements thereon which they heretofore deeded to me and on which they now live and I will and bequeath to my grand son James Steelman the fee simple of the said thrity five acres of land to be held and enjoyed by him and his heirs and assigns forever after the decease of his father and mother as aforesaid and I will and bequeath to my said son in law Matthias Steelman and my daughter Sally Steelman the use and occupancy of thirty acres of land lying in the South West Quarter of Section Eight in Township and Range aforesaid it being the balance of land lying in the North end of said Quarter section, of sixty five acres bounded on the east by a line I caused to be run between the said Matthias and John S. Hunt, and I will and bequeath to my said grand son James Steelman, the fee simple of the said last mentioned tract of land at the decease of his father and mother. 7th I will and bequeath to my said wife Hannah Estep the use & occupancy of my forty six acres of land lying in the South and of the South West Quarter of Section Eight as afore said, during her natural life, and after her decease it is my Will that the said land be rented out by my Executors to a tenant who will keep up the fences and not destroy the timber nor use the Sugar Camp for the term of twelve years when it is to be sold and devided equally amongst all the children of my daughter Temperance Hunt, share and share alike as also the proceeds from the tenant of the same during the said term of twelve years except sume of six dollars of such rents I wish to be annually paid to the Church at Elkhorn towards the support of the Gospel. It is further my will that Hannah Goodwin the daughter of my daughter Temperance Hunt have one bed & bedding after the decease of my said wife, not with standing, the foregoing provisions in this my will. 9th I constitute and appoint William H. Bennett & Christopher C. Beeler Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto to set my hand and seal the third day of December A.D. 1847. Burnside Clerk of the probate Court personally appeared Wm H. Bennett and John W. Quick, and makes oath that Abraham Estep the maker of the foregoing last Will & Testament, in their presence acknowledged the terms to be his act as therein expressed and that his signature thereto is genwine, and that they at his request and in his presence subscribed their same as Witnesses, and they further say that they believe the said testaator was at the time of sound mind and memory, free from all undue restrant and of lawful age to devise his property.
