Facts and Events
Probably not a daughter of William & Honor Holmes
Susannah (_______) Estep has long been claimed to be a daughter of William & Honor Holmes. This is based on a few things
1. William Holmes is said in his will to have left a daughter Susanna, among other daughters, "a heifer a piece."
2. Thomas Estep is said to have named a daughter with the uncommon Honor name.
3. Thomas Estep signed the will of William Holmes at a witness
The answer to these points:
1. The daughter named in the will of William Holmes, from those that have seen the original, looks more like 'Luranah' than 'Susanna'. It is not likely that Susanna was a nickname for the unusual 'Luranah'.
2. Honor Esteb/Estep is shown by bible record to be the daughter of an unplaced Jacob Estep. She is not a daughter of Thomas at all, and her and her father's connection to the Estep lines is unknown.
3. Being a witness to a will is not necessarily indicative of a family relationship.
In addition to this, although Honor Estep Seaney was alive at the time of Thomas Estep's will, she is not mentioned in it, though neither are two other children usually ascribed to him: Milley and Sarah.
