Abraham Daniel, son of William Daniel and Sarah Postles, was born in 1769 probably in Sussex County, Delaware. In one section of Runk's "History of Delaware", he was said to have been born on his father's plantation near Richmond, Virginia. Another section of the same book suggests that he was born in England and came to Sussex County, Delaware via Philadelphia as a young man. Abraham Daniel married first Mary Hickman, daughter of Jacob Hickman and Ann (--?--), between 1791 and 1796 in Sussex County, Delaware.

Abraham was a farmer. In 1800 Abraham was living in the Cedar Creek Hundred of Sussex County. His family consisted of himself, one female aged 16 to 25, two males aged 16 to 25, and two males under 10, presumably sons William and Joshua. Mary probably died about 1806. Abraham married his second wife, Comfort Stockley, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Stockley, about 1808 in Sussex County. Abraham and Comfort were members of the Methodist Episcopal church.

In 1830, Abraham and his family were listed in Cedar Creek Hundred. Abraham died in 1831 in Cedar Creek hundred. His estate was probated on 2 June 1831 in Sussex County. His wife requested that letters of administration on the estate of her late husband, Abraham Daniel be granted to William Hickman. The 1832 tax assessment for Comfort Daniels listed 125 acres, one old horse and two colts, five cows and two calves, one sow and hog, and ten sheep.

In J. M. Runk's "History of the State of Delaware" it is said: "Mr. Daniel was a Democrat, an ardent admirer of Thomas Jefferson, a kind-hearted Christian gentleman; he was beloved and honored in the community."
