- 1772 - A list of tithables for Botetourt Parish, Fincastle Co., VA, includes ARON SKAGGS (1 W M), Henry SKAGGS (2 W M), and James SKAGGS, Jr. (1 W M).
- 1772 - Another list of tithables for Montgomery (then Botetourt) Co., VA, includes AARON SKAGGS, Sr., Charles SKAGGS (1 W M), and James SKAGGS, Sr. (2 W M).
- 1773 - A list of delinquents returned for the year 1773 includes ARON SKEGS, Sr., ARON SKEGS, James SKEGGS (little), and John SKEGGS (little).
- 1774 - A tithable list for Botetourt Parish, Fincastle Co., VA, includes ARON SCAGGS, Sr. (1), ARON SCAGGS (1), and Henry SCAGGS (2 W M).
- 1774. AARON, Moses, and Richard SKAGGS, with nine other men, were in Sgt. Henry SKAGGS' detachment during a campaign against the Indians known as Lord Dunmore's War when the Shawnee were defeated at the Battle of Point Pleasant, October 10, 1774.
- 1774 - Another AARON SKAGGS, plus two John SKAGGS, were under Sgt. Charles SKAGGS during the same campaign, and two more SKAGGS men, Charles and Richard, were in Capt. Joseph CLOYD's Company.
- 1776 - Robert BELL (b. 1759) was drafted in 1776, and served one month under Sergeant AARON SCAGGS on the Bluestone and McGurie's Stations to guard from the Indians. [Draper's manuscripts are said to state that Aaron was the brother of Moses.
- 177_ - Sept. 13. - A list of persons sworn to the States in Capt. McCORKLE's Company of Montgomery Co., VA, includes HENRY SCAGGS, son of AARON; James (longman); John (Gourd Head); John, Jr.; John Zachariah; and Moses SCAGGS. (Note: this record has been cited by many Skaggs researchers as the key record to prove that Aaron Skaggs was the father of Henry Skaggs and his brother Aaron Skaggs).
- 1778 Sept. 25. - A list of fines set by court martial, Montgomery Co., VA, includes ARON, Archibald, Charles, Henry, Moses, and Zachariah SKAGGS.
- 1780 - Archibald and ARON SCAGGS signed the petition for clear title to their lands in the Loyal Land Co. and Greenbrier Land Co. areas; the Virginia State Library.
- 1781 Nov. 21 - "The Grand Jury of Washington Co., VA, charged HENRY SKAGGS with adultery with NANCY DAVIS, [and] AARON SKAGGS for same with SARAH LYON." Believed to be Henry, b. 1759, and his brother. The Sarah SKAGGS in Adair Co. and Edmonson Co., KY, censuses, 1800-1820, is said to be Aaron's widow.
