My earliest interest in genealogy was sparked by the invitation Aaron Doud received to the

FAREWELL BANQUET to GENL. U.S. GRANT PALACE HOTEL. OCT. 25, 1879 AARON DOUD

sterling S.F.Cal. A. Andrews

The mayor at that time was A.J. Bryant. There were 250 guests and 9 kinds of wine according to the contemporary newspaper account.

This card was passed down to Dwight E. Teall from whom it was stolen in the 1970's in a burglery.

1890 Census: destroyed by fire

1900 Census: Assembly District 34 June 9 and 11, 1900 Address 981 Valencia Aaron birth date given as Dec. 1836 and age at last birthday as 63. Birthplace New York and parents' birthplaces as Ireland. Occupation Stockbroker.

Flora birth date given as Mar. 1850 birthplace as California, father's birthplace Massachusetts, mother's birthplace Connecticut.

They had two lodgers living with them.

This does not agree with other pieces of information.... The city directory had their address for years as 933 Valencia. Aaron's birthdate is off both in year (1836 instead of 1833) and month (December instead of April). They are listed as having been married 31 years which is false (have marriage date and confirmation) Flora was older than 50 as well as born in another state. Not too accurate...
