Kukowski

Ancestry World Tree, accessed 4 December 2008
John KUKOWSKI, b. 8 APR 1854 in Dziemian, Lippusch parish, Koscierzyna district, Pelpin, W. Prussia d. 14 JUN 1936 in Manitowoc, WI, son of Francis KUKOWSKI and Victoria CZAPIEWSKA
According to the 1900 census, he immigrated to the U.S. from Germany, now Poland, in 1869. At some point, he changed his name from Kukowski to Coski.
In the 1912 - 13 Idaho State Gazeteer & Business Directory, listed under Glenn's Ferry is Coski, Jno, Shoemaker. He is also listed in the 1916 directory the same. His trade was saddle maker and he apparently branched out into shoes and/or shoe repair.
In the Roseberry, Boise County, Idaho National Farmers Alliance and Industrial Union, Account Book - Index to Secretary's Account Book is listed John Koski
[sic] - Page 23. The next page shows "Page 23 - John Koski 1892, 1893". (This was not the original book but a typewritten copy. It is not noted when or by whom copied). Coski was frequently misspelled this way including in the 1900 Census.
This new information gives additional circumstantial evidence to the theory that Elizabeth Gertrude was born in Roseberry.
Married 28 NOV 1877 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Chicago, IL Antonia KNITTER (b: JAN 1861 in Bigdoszcz, Posen, Germany, d. 24 JUN 1924 in Blackfoot, Bingham, ID; Immigrated to the U.S. from Germany, now Poland, in 1870 according to the 1900 census.
