Per the 1920 US Census, it appears that Thomas emigrated to America in 1880, with his wife Elizabeth coming over a couple years later in 1882. They had a son in Indiana about 1884, but their daughter Edith, born about 1897, was born in England, though was brought back to Indiana in infancy.
