He married, near 1640, a woman traditionally reported to have been Agnes Reed. This statement appears to have been made about 1803 by Col. Asa White, a descendent of the fifth generation. It is true that Philip Reed of Weymouth, in his will dated 15 Dec 1674, called Thomas Dyer his brother. They may have had one mother, or remarried sister; in any case they would call each other brothers.
[Presumably meaning that, apparently, Chamberlain can find no supporting evidence, and he thinks this evidence is too flimsy by itself to reach such a conclusion?]

  2.   Note: Source:Kendall, Winthrop Reed. American Ancestors of Winthrop Reed Kendall, p. 21, says "The wife of Dea. Thomas Dyer was Agnes Reed, ..., sister of William Read who married Avis Deacon." But considering that Kendall was unaware of the research presented in Source:Reed, Alanson H. Reade Record straightening out the two William Reeds of Weymouth, and that his wife was probably Avis Chipman, while Avis Deacon may have gone to Virginia, it is not clear that this assertion has any basis.
