Roger Deering m. St. Saviours Church, Dartmouth, Devon, England 30 Aug 1647 to Joan Palmer. Will of "Sarah Palmer, of Hardnes, in the parish ot Tounstall, widow", dated 12 Aug 1665, mentions daughter "Johan Derringe"; grandchildren Roger Deeringe, Clement Deeringe, Thomas Deeringe, Sarah Deeringe, and Joanna Deeringe; and "Roger Deeringe their father".
- There is some question about the son John. S1 is able to give a precise baptism date for John in 1651, indicating his baptism record was found, but then John is not mentioned in his grandmother's will of 1665, leading one to believe he died young. However, administration on the estate of John Deering is granted to his mother and her 2nd husband in 1691 in Kittery. Is this a second son John, or did the first John get overlooked by his grandmother? Probate records in Dartmouth for Roger Deering, dated 20 May 1679 state she was preparing to leave for Maine with two of her children, Sarah and Joseph. A John born in 1651 could have come over earlier with his father, but a John born after 1665, one would think, would have stayed with his mother. S1 assumes they are the same John, others sources make them into two (e.g., Descendants of Roger Deering).
