"In 1996, through research by Charles Farrow, TFA's English Genealogist, it was found that the parents of William Towne were John Towne and Elizabeth Clarke, who were married 20 Sep 1597 in Blundeston/Fixton Parish in Suffolk Co., England. Earlier it was known from Norfolk County, England, vital records that William was baptized on 18 mar 1598/9 to John and Elizabeth Towne in St. Nicholas Church in Great Yarmouth, England. William married Joanna Blessing in this same church on 25 Apr 1620. Edmund, Jacob and Mary were baptized there. A plaque commemorating these events was presented to the church by the Towne Family Association, Inc. in 1990 during the TFA trip to Great Yarmouth. Now, new member Steve Barnhoom of Hemlock, NY, has uncovered information on the Clarke family, who lived in Blundeston, 20 miles from Great Yarmouth.
