John and Julia's marriage was witnessed by Franciscus Dodane, Edward Dodane, and Joseph Dodane. Their baptismal names were Jionnam Ryan and Juliam Dodane. Julia was 59 years old when she died. Julia's obituary reads, "Mrs. Julia M. Ryan, aged 57, died of apoplexy Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at her home in Jefferson Township after an illness of eight months. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Township and a member of St. Louis' Catholic Church at Besancon and the Ladies' Rosary Society. Surviving are the husband, John Ryan; three daughters, Sister M. Wilfrieda, of Mercy Hospital, at Gary; Mrs. Frances Roy, of Fort Wayne, and Agnes, at home; two sons, Lawrence and Leonard, both at home; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Girardot and Mrs. Frances Brown, both of Fort Wayne; four brothers, Charles Dodane, of Ossian; Frank Dodane, of Fort Wayne; and Louis and August Dodane, both of Jefferson Township. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the residence, and at 9 p.m. at St. Louis' Church with the Rev. J. Nicholas Allgeier officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery." John's obituary reads, "Funeral services for John Ryan, aged 82, who died Monday morning at 2:50 at his home in Jefferson Township, will be conducted Thursday morning at 8:45 at the residence on R.R.#2, New Haven and 9 am at St. Louis Catholic Church Besancon with Rev. Hession officiating with internment in the church cemetery. Death was attributed to pneumonia following an illness of three weeks. Surviving are two sons, Lawrence at home and Leonard of New Haven, three daughters, Sister M. Wilfreda of St. Josephs Hospital, Mrs. Julia Roy at home and Miss Agnes Ryan of New Haven and three grandchildren. The body was tkane to the Ternet-Hosler funeral home where friends may call until Wednesday noon when the body will be returned to the residence."
