Syracuse Herald, 22 Mar 1936: NURSE SUPERVISOR ENGAGED TO MARRY JOHN WM. MCSWEENEY Mrs. I.A. Durgee of Parish announces the engagement of her daughter, Miss Gail Katharine Durgee, [photo] above to John William McSweeney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McSweeney of Fulton. No date is mentioned for the wedding. Miss Durgee, who was graduated from Crouse-Irving Hospital School of Nursing, is now a supervisor in the surgical and medical department of the hospital. Mr. McSweeney is engaged in business in Fulton. Fulton Patriot, Thursday, May 28, 1936: McSWEENEY--DURGEE The marriage of John W. McSweeney of 359 Park Street and Miss Gail Durgee of Syracuse will be solemnized at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse on June 2d. They will reside in this city. Mr. McSweeney, a Fulton High School graduate is a sheet metal contractor. Miss Durgee is a supervisor in Crouse-Irving Hospital. She was graduated from the nurses' training school in 1933, and did post-graduate nursing work in the Boston Lying-in Hospital. Oswego Valley News, 15 June 1961: McSWEENEYS MARK 25TH ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. John W. McSweeney of 357 Park ST celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Saturday June 3 with a Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception followed by a breakfast at the Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. McSweeney is the former Gail Durgee. Married by Rev. Robert Driscoll in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, June 2, 1936, the McSweeneys have three children: a daughter Marie who teaches at Massapequa L.I., a son Thomas doing graduate work in chemical engineering at the University of Michigan, and a son Edward at home.
