Family:John Kite and Elizabeth Miller (1)

John Kite must have been married prior to his marriage to Betsy Louderback. In Boone Co, KY Deed Bk G p. 58, John says he is the father-in-law of William Daniel who married Sarah (Salley) Kite in 1815. The marriage bond said that Salley was over 21 years of age. She had to have been born of a prior marriage.

The LDS Family Search website has an IGI record for a marriage between John Kite and Elizabeth Miller in Rockingham County Virginia in 1791. Elizabeth's father is listed as Jacob Miller. This information was obtained from the book "Rockingham County Marriages, 1778-1850" by John Vogt, published in 1984. Some researchers show this John as the son of William Kite, brother of George (this John's father). I don't know if that William had a son, but I am positive that this John had an earlier marriage.

Could John Kite of the 1816 marriage to Margaret Miller be the brother of Sallie and also the son of John from his first marriage? I believe this is so. William Daniel and Salley Kite were married by Weden Sleet. Bond and consent were given by Wiley Bates. John Kite and Margaret Miller (1816) were married by Weden Sleet. Bond was by Wiley Bates.
