The History of Wabash County, Indiana (1914) says that they were married in Germany. The 1976 Gemeinde Waldgrehweiler letter indicates that they were not married there.

There are at least 2 other Hildenbrand children. It would be nice if someone could provide their names in these pages.

  1. History of Wabash County, Indiana: a narrative account of its historical progress, its people, and its principal interests. (Chicago: Lewis Pub. Co., 1914).

In the book, Elizabeth's surname is spelled: GEIBLE. The book does not say, but the marriage was probably in WALDGREHWEILER where Elizabeth was a resident. Jacob may have also been from WALDGREHWEILER, or from one of the many tiny villages nearby, which sent many of their citizens to Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and Wabash County, Indiana.

  2. Wabash County Marriages 1835-1861.

The book gives: "Hilterbrand, Jacob to Elizabeth Gible, Aug. 30, 1852". This entry is probably the right couple - mispellings and all!

The 1835-1899 book also has the same data.
