It is located between Kaiserslautern and Bad Kreuznach; in the Palatinate, near the town of Rockenhausen and near the Glan River. The modern village has a population of roughly 300 people. WALD means wood or forest. WEILER means a hamlet. Beginning in circa 1834 many people emigrated from the village to America. The first pioneers settled in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. Some of them migrated on to Wabash County, Indiana in circa 1848.
