- Jacob Bush, a son of George Adam and Susannah Bush, was born in 1756 in Hampshire County VA (WV) and died in Lewis County VA (WV) November 28, 1832. He married Margaret Snar [sic, listed as Margaret "Swann" in other sources] in Hardy County VA (WV) "in the Fall of 1782". Margaret was born in 1756 and died in Lewis County July 28, 1847. Jacob served the Colonies in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in Captain Samuel Pringle's company of Indian spies at Buckhannon Fort in the Spring of 1778 and was discharged in the Fall of 1779. In April or May of 1781, Jacob enlisted in Captain George Jackson's Company of Militia at Buckhannon Fort as a substitute for his brother, John Bush. Jackson's company joined George Rogers Clarke's army for an expedition down the Ohio River to the present site of Louisville, KY. Jacob, with many others of Clarke's army, contracted fever at Louisville and were discharged in the Fall of 1781. Jacob was unable to travel and did not return home until the Spring of 1782.
